I am a very big Cerebus the Aardvark fan. Dave Sim's epic has just totally engrossed me and I find now that I'm locked on target for a whole series of Cirinist paintings.

The Cirinists are a race of Matriarch's. Telepathic and hornet like in their attack they are bigger than men and genuinely terrifying.
